Camille was a cat. 5 at landfall. Katrina was probably bigger, but it wasn't badder. Camille was one of only two category 5 hurricanes to strike the US. The other was the 1935 labor day hurricane which killed hundreds of WW1 vets building a memorial bridge. It's a pretty awful story. If anyone of you are interested in hurricanes, I suggest 3 books that i've read. "Isaac's storm" about the 1900 hurricane that struck Galveston which was virtually without warning. "the perfect storm"...you all know that story....and "Storm of the century: The labor day hurricane of 1935." They said Andrew was a cat. 5 at landfall, but i'm about 90% sure it wsn't.
