Commuter Searches on the N.J. PATH System
Several people have reported to my wife, and myself, that when they are selected for a random bag search on Jersey's Path system, they are admitted to the train for free. This is a nice gesture, and has dramatically cut down on passengers' annoyance. I am hoping that the NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority adopts this system as well, but am not banking on it happening anytime soon, LOL.

This puts this rumor in the shit-can from my point of view.
To violate my rights by searching me without provocvation, will not be overlooked by some fake ass gesture of a free ride that I have all ready paid for in advance.
In short, if I have already paid for my ticket, how the fuck are you then going to claim today's ride is free?
Besides this totally sounds like a bullshit rumor. I cant imagine the MTA or NJT giveing anything away for free no how.

There are no monthly, or weekly, etc., passes, or similar deals, for the PATH trains. You can buy individual passes for the full price ($1.50 a ride), or save money by buying blocks of 20 or 40 rides at a discount. You can also use a basic NYC metrocard - and your card is charged $1.50. You cannot use the "special" NYC MTA metrocards, such as those have "unlimited" rides for certain periods, in the NJ PATH - only the regular type.

fuck that.
noone has the right to go through your private belongings terrorism or not.
its all about conditioning...theyll soon stop giving free rides to "curb the ever growing budget crisis".
think about it, a terrorist using a suicide bomb is going to let some guy search his bag...without blowing whole place up....RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
WAKE UP PEOPLE! (not necessarily you two...just in general)

I think that I already know the answer to this question, but would you be in favor of "profiling" - as in only checking the bags of people that look likely to have a bomb? If not, then I guess that we'll all have to be considered potential suspects in the war on terror.

Of course, many of our foreign policies will have to change drastically, as well as our dependence on foreign oil.
For now, the bag searching is not very widespread, and infrequent, so I can live with it. I use the NYC transit system, and have not yet been stopped. I used to carry a backpack, with water, walkman, books, lunch cooler, and more. I have divided those things up into smaller containers until I get on the subway, and then put everything into a fold-up larger backpack made by Eagle Creek (the "Daypack" model). This solution works for me, but is a slight inconvenience.

I like your attitude! I would rather be a little inconvenienced also if it helps to prevent something big. Unless your carrying something illegal, it shouldn't be that much of a concern.

It amazes me how you say it doesnt bother you that much, but on the same hand you have made your own work around for the situation.
I half ass want them to search me so I can tell them to fuck a sheep before handing over my things.
I think at certain degrees I am going to have to accept the things that I do not agree with, atleast until I can get off this over populated sand box for greener pastures.
And yes it doesnt happen that frequebtly I will agree with that.
However how long do you think it will be before it is common place to be searched?
I dont think it will be all that long before these sheep line up in the name of homeland security.
But by then they will already have such a high tolerance for men in camo's, if they arent in their face searching them they will be out of sight out of mind.
This is the baby steps portion of the American peoples accepting Martial Law.
When enough wake up, they will at some point be left with a choice to be made. Calm the Americans by force, or let the Goverment collapse.
And for the Yuppy, semi elite, phseudo-good-old-boy network assholes that cant possibly concieve these things happening. Guess what, your wake up is comeing so fast your head is going to ache for days while you sit and try to figure out how it was that Uncle Sam was allowed to ass fuck you, and lift your wallet, all while patting your child on the head, giveing your dog a treat, and copeing a feel off yer wife at Sunday dinner.
What will it take that class of idiot to open theirs eyes I wonder.....
My guess is you would have to affect the SUV trade to make any sort of dent in those bucket heads.
What it has come down to is a choice for us to make....
What rights are you willing to give up?
Profileing and illegal search altho two seperate issues all together both link directly to personal privacy at its garrantee by our constitution.
They have created a situation that will come to a head very soon, and it becomes clearer everyday that we will be forced to let them profile the muslims if to do nothing but get ourselves out of the search radar. But a big push will be made for profileing, homeland security budgets will be a HUGE reason I am sure.
Both of these violations of our rights will continue as long as it is beleived that there is a threat. And as long as its the same guys locking us down as telling us this threat exists, we are fucked.
When they are done fucking up the Muslim culture they will come for yours, as long as it differs from theirs, it will affect your daily life.
Then what will the Apathy lovers cling to?
What other denial tactic will they pull from the arsenal to combat logic and common sense with?
Sorry for the rant style, nothing is directed at anyone in particular, but more of a look at society in general.
