Anyway, to answer your question. Yes, I sat once with my cat Bobby and made a real intense connection with him.
I meditated with him and, to make a long story short,we came out of it with a new understanding of each other and our personalities. All behavior conflicts were a thing of the past and he would respond to my every word like he perfectly understood my thoughts. After that I could actually reason with him.
Not command/obey but make arrangements that had mutual benefit.
I dont know if you know what I mean but our communication was suddely expanded. We became better friends and more on an equal level than owner/posession. I dont know how to explain it any better than to say we had a greater respect for each other and became so much closer. In our meditation we became one, we melded, then when we 'seperated' again we kept an intense connection.
It was a beautiful thing that I will never forget.

peace.

haha...i try that with my dogs - they look at me like i'm a fool.
no connection, we're just best friends.
i get my dog, charlie high all the time. he lays in the bed with me and he won't leave unless i do and sometimes he just waits for me to come back.
i scrutinize him all the time even when i'm not high. it would be nice to know what's going on his head.
the voice in my head gets louder, i'm sure he can hear it.

edit: i've never gotten him high against his own will! that's just wrong.
