The last shit I harvested last month( my indoor grow....only 1.5oz) smelled of hay when I was drying it, and I wondered the same thing. The smoke was great, the high was great, it just smelled like hay. I also found that the longer I cured the bud, the more skunkier it got.....so, what ever. I trust harddons answer is correct.
