Dont let the lack of smell fool you.

The presence of smell is really all about terpene production and the amount of molecules released into the air.

Some plants are bred to smell like shit bags that we love....like a lot of skunk varieties.

Also the green and amount of green on the buds will dampen the terpene smell....it doesnt mean the weed is weak, it just gets dampened and the molecules of the odor are being absorbed or overwhelmed by the green leaf that doesnt produce the terpene or enuff of it.

Doing a real good job of letting the plant suck the nutes outta the leaves prior to harvest can insure minimal foilage and allow the natural aroma to be more easily recognized.

If you squeeze hard on a bud and then smell your fingers, you will smell the terpene. If not, then your stash prolly sucks

i have noticed the nice finger smell when manicuring.

The last shit I harvested last month( my indoor grow....only 1.5oz) smelled of hay when I was drying it, and I wondered the same thing. The smoke was great, the high was great, it just smelled like hay. I also found that the longer I cured the bud, the more skunkier it got.....so, what ever. I trust harddons answer is correct. He's a fuckin genius when it comes to herb.-peace-emtpockets
