Pat Robertson called on Monday for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, calling him a "terrific danger" to the United States.

Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition of America and a former presidential candidate, said on "The 700 Club" it was the United States' duty to stop Chavez from making Venezuela a "launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism."

Venezuela is the fifth largest oil exporter and a major supplier of oil to the United States. The CIA estimates that U.S. markets absorb almost 59 percent of Venezuela's total exports.

Communist infiltration? Sorry, Pat, Marxism has really been on the decline since that whole "end of the Cold War" thing happened. Those communist groups that do survive (like the various Communist Parties in west Europe) have given up the idea of a revolutionary toppling of the government and generally work within the game of reformist parliamentary politics now â?? where they hardly have any influence anywhere due to their waning numbers. But that's not enough for some people. Wackos like Pat won't be happy until everybody who's even seriously considered socialistic ideas is murdered out of power.

It seems most of these televangelists have given up those parts of the Bible which condone good moral acts. Like that part about "thou shalt not kill" apparently means for these people "thou shalt not kill, unless your president/clergyman says it's okay". And that part about rich people having as much chance of getting into heaven as a camel has of getting through the eye of a needle â?? that's irrelevant now, you all now have to give lots and lots of money to "God" (i.e. Pat Robertson).
