What will happen is your plant will stress out. During the early stage of its life, expose it to light or stressing it out will give you better chance of a male plant, which produce no buds or THC. If your plant is on 12/12, you're going to hermie it, resulting in seeded buds and male plant matter.

Don't mess with the lights, stay on schedule and don't change around the lighting times. It will do more harm than good.
Just adding to what's said here...you will only hermie a plant with prolonged interuption in the light cycle. flipping the light on during the dark period to show some friends isn't going to effect that plant...do that every night for 2 weeks.. then maybe. You want as few light leaks as possible because a consistant leak in light could possibly effect the plant.

unless there's a significant interuption in the light cycle, you probably won't have any problems with the plant going hermie on you.

some things to remember? there's always ambient light from the moon, stars, passing cars..etc. it's never officially pitch black..even at the latest hours of the night. Also, some plants are hermie from seed, depending on the reliability of the seed.
