Could be partly from all the sugar in the cough syrup. That's bad for your kidneys. ( But you'd have to be doing it very frequently and with large portions of syrup.)

But I'm no doctor, that's just something I read and I'm not at all sure that that's what your problem is. You'll have to give more details.
Edgar Reviewed by Edgar on . Dxm causes liver damage. I've been using DXM for half a year, yet lately i layed off it for a good reason. I keep having sharp pains in my kidney and liver, even when i havent had any in a few weeks...this could be bad, i dont want to have liver damage.. Mabye its just side affects still arising week later? When ever i eat something though, i feel the same sharp pain. Anyone else have this? Rating: 5
