I need some advice on how to calm someone who is having a bad trip and how to calm yourself if YOU are having a bad trip. What are some ways?

Concentrate on something. I once drank before smoking weed (i'm talking 2 beers many hours before smoking), and I was on my hands and knees running in circles praying not to puke. I found if i concentrated on doing random math equations, it went away, and if i ever stopped or got lazy, it came back.

If you're on something relativly safe, like weed, lsd, mushrooms, anything that doesn't usually kill people, all you need to do is keep yourself occupied and reminds yourself that you are only under the influence of a drug and it will go away soon. Doing something productive during a trip can make it much better, going for a walk with a bunch of friends in the forest on LSD will probably make your trip a lot better than sitting alone in the dark.

And if all else fails remind yourself you just payed good money for that shit and if you're gonna die, you might as well get your moneys worth first.

when i first started smoking i would get really paranoid, that i was gonna get busted or someone was gonna find out or anything like that. eventually, i just learned to tell myself that the paranoia was all in my head, that it was a product of the weed, and that i shouldnt listen to it because it was pretty much unfounded in truth.

yea try to concnetrate on the fact that it'll go away, if it's someone else talk about something that they would have a hard time turning into a bad trip. if it's something that you can be sobered up off of then try to sober them up (only thing i know of is weed, but i doubt that's the substance in question) just concentrate on anything not pertaining to the trip.

the only way it starts is if u think about dying and once in ur head virtually impossible to get out without a quick chang of scenery

Just concentrate on breathing. It will suck for a minute, but it will be kewl. Dont concentrate on your heartbeat.

listen to music, if your pretty high the music will prolly calm you down because you will start concentration of the music w/out even noticing
