"latewood's little room"
I figured I'd get a stash
and a couple of good strains for moms...I didn't know the clones would do so well, so I think they will just turn into SOG...
The big babies are almost ready to harvest, noticed higher % cloudy trichs tonight.
I shouldn't have done the soiless, but I hated the idea of killing the clones!
Why?, do you think I'm gonna have too much POT?
...never happen...It's my only vice anymore (10.5 months "Sobriety"
...I figure, If you have the room, why not fill it with buddage, besides, I get bored easily, so I start building shit.

It is metal halide...if you have bulbs, they will work...you need to make sure that you don't mix a metal halide in a hps ballast and vice-versa...the one in picture is your standard highbay vert. lightbulb...I am going to change it over to agrosun gold Horizontal bulb ASAP

It is not the ballasts that give you fits with horizontal vs. vertical....unless the ballast is built into the bulb itself.
If the ballast is designed specifically for a certain position, altering the designed position will only result in premature death of the ballast.
The only thing the ballasts are really affected by is heat. If the ballast is designed to vent heat a specific direction, it is best to allow it to operate in such a manner.
But yes....
If you want to hang a bulb either vert or horiz...you need a UNIVERSAL bulb.
If you hang a vert only bulb in a horizontal position, or, visa-versa, you run the risk of exploding the light bulbs.
I talked at length with peeps at discounthydro and fullspectrumsolutions about this. They both confirmed the importance of following directions in lighting positioning.
If the unit is not universal, then it should be setup as designed.

yeah, Harddon, but wouldn't you agree that i could put hor. bulb in the mogul base I'm using?
I pretty much know it is alright, just wanted to confirm...you know how it is when somebody cast doubt over your parade

If it follows the instructions, sure I dont see what would be the problems....
is your mogul base detached or attached to the ballast?
If your ballast is designed for a specific position it needs to stay that way.
If your bulb is designed for a specific position it needs to stay that way.
I think the higher the light wattage the bigger KABLOOM you get too.
Those glass shards can do some real damage to the face when traveling at high speeds too.....
I generally follow a theory in life and business....
"It is better to do and ask for forgiveness than to not do and ask for permission."
I follow this pattern....cept when it comes to light and electricity things

OK, then I'm OK and I was right, OK... My 400w metal halide is a commercial light.or like the big square fixtures in the overhangs at gas stations...It is a vertical bulb, I would not put this bulb horizontal...common sense, H, we discussed this when you advised me to remove reflectors and put light horizontal, and I responded that I thought this was a vertical only...anyway, the ballast and igniter were all mounted on square frame. I now have that on floor, just the way it has always sat....the mogul was mounted vert. thru the hat, which I removed. Now I have rewired from the guts to the mogul base an 8' flex cable so I don't have to deal with the hood assembly. I am going to do a project with this later......I still use this lamp vertically, because I haven't gotten gotten my new bulb...so we are all on the same page, yes?..thanks
my new bulb, Agrosun Gold Horizontal, but when I get the horizontal bulb, I will mount the mogul horizontally, as it is not mounted to anything, ballast or vert. bulb...

should keep bulbs vertical, more output. if you have a ballast w/igniter it is a hps, good for flowering, tends to stretch the plants some. i use a combo. this pic is flood & drain. r
