I started my plants about two months ago and my largest one is about twelve inches and I'm curious to know where the buds are going to grow at.

depending on where you are,
depends on the time of daylight hours and dark hours
not the size,or really the age,of the plant,
true it must be a established plant,
when the hours equal,u can check here

for those is usa,look up rise and set times,do ya homework if ya wanna know exact dates 'equinox is your friend,)
the plant,
it will show its sex.and then as time passes female'slower,(and seed if the males aint taken out the patch when they show up )
when they show sex,when the hours equal up

another thing
plants have growth spurts.
but some get stunted,
they will still bud out when the time is right
just wont be big,
