First i did the whole pouring ice and cold water over the leaves thing, covering them. Then I ground it up well with a hand held blender. Then I returned it to the fridge to settle for half an hour. I poured it all through a plastic spaghetti sieve, which retained most of the unusable green plant matter and let the water, cristals and some plant matter pass through into a bucket. I poured more water over the plant matter just to make sure all the good stuff was running through into the bucket and threw the plant matter away.
I did this a couple of times, decreasing the garbage plant matter each time.

Once the water in the bucket was beginning to look fairly clear, and had been chilled for half an hour each time, I could begin to see a cloudy mist settle at the bottom, which turned out to be the crystals.

There was still too much plant matter left to pass through the paper coffee filter though, so I poured the water through a fine tea sieve, rinsing that well as well, to make sure no crystals stuck there. Threw that plant matter away as well. By this time the water was clear enough to pass through the paper filter, yet retain the misty crystal matter.

Once I'd got that far there was greenish/brownish guck left in the filter. I scraped it together with a credit card and squeezed it dry through the filter and left it for half an hour.

Then I lit it up expecting nothing but a lot of coughing, but to my surprise it was very gentle and KABOOM! I sat laughing for half an hour realizing that I had just made good quality hash from garbage.

I'm sincerely looking forward to it more than the buds in 2 months time...
