kablam, I feel your pain. Much as I hate Wal-Mart, I do go there from time to time to pay my student loan or car payment via Moneygram (like if it's due that day & I just realize it... like I just realized with my student loan payment. fuck!).

So anyway... I went in to pay my student loan awhile back. The girl kept saying it wouldn't go through, because I had the wrong account number. I was like, um, it's referenced by my social security number, which I'm pretty sure has not changed after 28 years. Trust me, it's correct. We went back & forth like 5 times... me remaining calm, just getting a little perplexed; she getting increasingly pissy & wobble-headed at me.

After several minutes & MAJOR attitude, it turned out that when she input my info to the Moneygram computer, it came up with two companies I had paid using their service... American Honda Finance & the student loan bank. Well, without paying attention, she just clicked Honda because it came up first. No wonder the account numbers didn't match... she was looking at another freaking COMPANY!!!

She obviously felt silly, but instead of apologizing, she got even more pissy. I calmly said, 'see, was it really worth getting all attitudey for?' She about leaped over the counter at me, but her boss was right there. Oy. I'd be miserable if I worked there too.
