Joel,

SOG (sea of green)

SCROG (screen of green)

SOG involves many very small plants grown very quickly and while producing less bud weight per plant it attempts to make up for that through population density.

SCROG involves only one or maybe as many as four plants. This is important to some growers in juristictions where the severity of the "crime" is often determined by the number of plants under cultivation. In California for example Med growers in some counties are only allowed 6 plants at a time. The SCROG technique will outproduce the SOG method by far in these circumstances.

Also, sativa plants are notoriuos for taking up an awful lot of vertical hieght if you are going for a decent yield per suare foot of floor space. Also the light has difficuly gettin down to the lower buds/braches effectively. SCROG trains the plant under the screen allowing for the same number of buds in a very much lower vertical hieght. Also every bud gets the benefit of being very close to the light source. The plant can actually be just as "big" under a screen at about 12" high as a "tall" plant at 4 or 5 feet tall. That is why I put this in the "Cabinet/Closet" growers section.

My own situation requires limited grow hieght so I use SCROG to get the most yield per suare foot of floor space and the vertical distance available. In SOG you are limiting the veg growth to achieve the small size but in SCROG the plant actually grows to full veg size but under the screen.

It may not be for you if you have no size/space limitaions or if you are not concerned about the number of plants you grow. Others (including myself) do face these issues and for us SCROG provides the solutions.

Max Blast Reviewed by Max Blast on . You should consider SCROG growing For maximum yields in small spaces you should consider the SCROG techniques. Check out this picture of a SCROG grow. Notice that only the buds come through the screen (after training of course) this gives the buds the maximum light. http://www.overgrow.com/edge/galler...=ScrOG--21-.jpg Try looking here, http://users.lycaeum.org/~npkaye/multishelf.html Rating: 5
