If you are going to want to keep your plants in the sun, put them outside. Putting a plant by a window for light isn't enough for a plant to survive. Sure they're growing, but if you look, you can see just how bad they are stretching. They are reaching for more sunlight and keeping them inside, in direct sunlight, it gets very hot. So if you want to keep your plants in the sun, put them outside at least so they can get enough of it. Keeping them there and they'll just keep stretching and eventually it won't be strong enough to hold up the weight of the incoming buds.

Or put them back under the Hps. That's better than window sun. Trust me, I've tried growing in the window...doesn't work so well. Things get strecthed out and lanky. Under a standard Hps they will keep stretching. CFL's/Floros work amazingly well during vegging because of the low heat factor they give off. The best bet is an Mh bulb, but those are quite pricey. Good luck.

I found a place last night that sells 150w hps/medium base for $11.95...I didn't want to get too deep right off the bat, but chowder is right on...Fluoros can be put right on top of new plants to keep them nice and tight...I use fluors for clones/seedlings...400w MH for Veg, then the MH and a 250w HPS for Flowering.
Before you ask: Ebay or Inside sun has the best deals without a doubt...
I think I am going to buy 6 of those med. base 150hps and make an 900w flower chamber...I have to research if they last very long...

latewood, The medium base still require a ballast. I looked at those too and thought you could just throw 'em in a regular 'ol screw in socket but it won't work. At least not the ones I saw with a medium base. Let me know if you find out something different!

And yep ZE you need more concentrated light. You can buy some 23 watt cfl's for about $6 a piece in daylight spectrum and the clip on sockets for about $5. I have 4 of those and 2 43 watters and they put out some major light. Not like a mh but my plants are what I call 'stumpy' cause they're so short and compact. One is 4.5" tall with 6 nodes already!! Got another one that's a little over 2" and it has 4 nodes! So amazingly close growing. Stems are getting hefty too to hold the 8 pound buds I'm planning on...ha.

thanks, Marc, I will follow-up on those...Damn, I thought they would be awesome to stick 6 of them babies in the top of a box, too good to be true.
Ze...45w cfl's at Wally's and in my experience using them they workpretty good, especially if that is all you can afford.
