    Warning! Verbose PreTransplant Jitters Inside.

    One Lady??s Story

I know I should buy a book but time is of the essence, folks.

She??s my sole 53? tall survivor from 10 seedlings.
and she needs transplanting from a 2 gal pot to a 5 gal because new plan is to now stay indoors. Not sure but guessing she??s sativa and that the 5 gal is a must.

May try scrogging her over. Numerous tips I??d say.

Why this dilemma?? Household disunity on security advantages messed up best plans. Then my beloved but may soon be ex-mate starts reading of outdoor busts in morning paper. Then she changes her mind back. She still thinks buying is less risky. Workin on that one.

The rootball pictured is from Lady??s late twin brother. He was also raised in a 2 gal pot. Her roots should resemble this, is the point. This morning her late brothers remains underwent this root structure autopsy. Any insights at all appreciated. I??m thinking pretty weak looking

I would like opinions about how much I should, if any, scrape down the sides of her (almost rootless outer edges of) rootball. On her brother, only a few hair roots ever got out to the container. Rest of dirt into the remains you see pictured did not seem to have any visable roots at all.

    Having pre-transplant jitters is all.

Also don??t feel I mixed enough perlite into the mix for Bro and Sis here. During autopsy He came out of his pot perfectly shiney and cylindrical. Pretty solid. Plan to put more perlite to the mix for M??Lady??s new 5 Gallon Jug planter (painted black and drainage prepped with 1?? holes and a crushed granite bed - Check!

But should I try to lose some of outer extremes of the rootball - going with more perlite (and vermiculite?) into the new mix.

    Lighting to date:
Six larger sized CFL??s and a warmer 3tube flouro desklamp.
    24/7 until 12 days ago.
    Since then, 17/7.

For this year may just stay with these.
Considering a less tall flowering box - thinking bending her over an 18? radius - do a makeshift single plant screen for her and the get info on how much height she will need while flowering in that position.

    Thanks to all

    Hmphph.

    It's a simple question people.

If I scratch soil from the 2 gallon pot rootball, will i be damaging any root development that is not visible to the naked eye.

You don't scrape any soil off the root ball. You take the whole thing and plant it in another container. The less you mess with the roots the better.

i heard shock to the roots of any plant can cause irreversible damage, thats why you cant replant a tree thats fallen over and its roots are torn but thats only when loads of the roots are fucked, you should be ok if you do that the other person said.

Yes, you will. Don't touch the roots, remove dirt from the roots, or have any contact with them at all. You are suppose to to transplant with the dirt clump and all. You should have just pulled the whole dirt clump out, in one piece, and transplanted it. Now you have disturbed the roots, big time, by the looks of it, and now they are going to go through some hardcore shock.

    Good luck

Sorry buddy but uh if a tree falls over, it will keep growing because it has only broke 1/2 half threw or 3/4 threw, yet leaving the roots to continue growth in the ground unless root damage. Shocking the plant(roots) wouldnt kill it, it wouldnt grow for a while but you could keep it alive just by feeding it water everyday. My plants went into shock when we moved them out of my house due to police threats, and then moved them back in, I didnt feed them any nutes except water for a while.

Rezinator: Dont scratch the soil off your roots, just replant it and give the new soil in the new pot a good watering. What do you mean your only survivor from 10? What in the hell happend man=[.

I "think" what Rezinator was asking....

When transplanting plants, yes, you can take the outter roots and "RIP" them open, or "TEAR" them apart on the outside surface.

THis practice, in theory, exposes roots tips that have become ingrown or otherwise "locked in" to new soil medium and thus accelerate the transition to the new soil.

THis is a very common and effective technique used by many 'old-timers' who garden.

I do this very thing to my garden plants......

I take them out of the container and literally RIP APART the OUTTER and BOTTOM roots...not rip them OFF, but aggressively rip them open......

I do this to small plants or small yard trees that I grow...every season.

    It does work.

But i have never done this to MJ. Nor would I ever.

I just dont have the balls to risk it

If a little flower plant dies, I just get a new one.

If an MJ plant dies, a part of me dies as well
