I recently saw an episode of Montel Williams wherein he descirbes his personal use of medical MJ and at the end of the show he expressed his disbelief and lack of undestanding of why the federal govt will not or can not legalize medical pot use for pain and suffering.
The answer is really quite clear and as usual is best explained via the "follow the money" approach. The US drug industry (big Pharma in stock market terms) is one of the biggest lobbying groups in the world. Notice the effect they have on any attemtps to lower the costs of the drugs they manufacture.(they regularly lie about Canadian drugs being possibly unsafe to re-import even though they themselves produced the drugs in the same factory and machines that the overpriced US available drugs came from) They contribute vast amounts of money to the relection campiagns of federal legislators and supply these same legislators with misleading and indeed outright false information regarding marijuana. They do this to protect their own monopoly on what is the biggest business today and certainly in the near future, the pain med business.
The Alcohol production industry also plays this game to protect their own business interests. After all they are in the "intoxicant" business, are they not? The availability of an alternative intoxicant (that they do not control the manufaturs and distibution of) is their worst nightmare.
If (and only if) the feds and Big Pharma and/or Big Alcohol can find a way for MJ to be controlled and monopolized by Big Business will MJ become legal in any form. This is highly unlikely because MJ is so easily produced by regular citizens at home. Just try to make your own Vicodin or morphine derivitives. For that matter it is even difficult (and dangerous) to make your own alcohol at home. (although not illegal)
The day after someone figures out how to give big industry interests the ability to have a monopoly over MJ production and distribution is the day MJ will be on the way to becoming legal. (and it will happen with amazing speed)
think about it,
Max Blast
good post and i agree with that ,it is big bussiness that does not want it
if people where educated to the facts and not the bullshit lies the goverment puts out to get funds for their backers agenda's
we would have no stupid laws against medical use,and probly not agianst adult consumption, who knows what the next elections DEAL will be
we will see
peace
