This happens alot because when you smoke less oxygen is getting into your lungs, causing your heart to beat faster. All you should have to do is relax for a minute, and get some air, you'll be fine. Hope this clears somthing up.

P.S. - However, 170BPM IS a little extreme, and if you've had prior heart problems you had best stop smoking it, or at least get a nice vaporizer.
Checkminus Reviewed by Checkminus on . Heart problems? I've been smoking pot for about a week, every time the first 10 minutes my heart would beat like crazy, but I didnt really care, because hey, I'm high right :) The last time it was going alot faster than usual, I managed to time it (while i was high) and it was 170bpm. And now, today, my heart feels really bad. I feel like someone has their fist on my heart all day. And if I try and run or do anything that makes my heart beat faster, I just can't, it goes way too fast and feels awful. Rating: 5
