my new 1000 watt setup and pics.... any suggestions?

okay now here arre some pics of my new setup... i have a 1000 watt hps bulb in there now im running it at 18 hours of light 6 hours of dark.... i have a few questions..




1. how far should i keep the light above the plants... check pic

2. when should i put in the MH bulb and switch lighting cycle???

3. in the last pic is it normaly for it to strech like that doesnt look like no others are doing so.....

do you guys have any suggestions i should do to make it better.... ideas... anything... right now its about 11 inches from tallest plant..

The temperature at the top of the canopy will tell you how close you can place your light. Keep the temperature under 82f and you will not have any problems.

i dont see a temperature at the top of the canape... but i do have a air conditioner in there... and a fan on 'em and i havent noticed any burning yet..

i have a theromaster floating in the air its right around 75-80 but on cold nights gets down to like 65-70 is that good...???

on a hot day i get about.... 85 top temp

welcome loud...OK 1st you veg w MH and flower with HPS and you could change over if you were using MH, but since you are running HPS already; no change...this grow
change right now to 12/12...you already have flowers, so flower...goodluck, also, before you get bombarded with suggestions about your lack of white plastic or mylar surrounding your plant...you are losing alot of light that would transform into bigger buds, better yield...I'm surprised Z didn't mention both of these problems, well actually the light isn't a problem you just won't be switching to MH to flower, as I said before MH is for the veg cycle(blue light)...hope this helps...more will come.later...P.s. the plant that is stretching could be a male, I said "could be" that is one male trait...if the others are all staying, but each plant can have it's own characteristics, so watch that badboy

Seems to me like you have a really nice setup but have things a bit confused.

Firstly, if you killed all the males then there shouldn't be any males left.

Secondly, sound like you're switching light cycles in a bit of a strange way. You should start off (vegging) with 18/6 or anything up to 24/0 if you please. Then you should be switching to 12/12 for flowering. (flowering is when you get your buds, not vegging)

Lastly, you can get mylar off the net. You cover the walls in it, or flat white paint also does a good job.

Think you need to fix these problems. Would be good to know what stage exactly you're at & what you've been doing with the lights so far (exactly).

6. go read the growfaqs here and @overgrow.c and you will find how-to's, tutorials, and in some cases complete start to finish grow diaries...this will help you learn the foundation of how to grow...alot of people here are more than happy to help you out, but you really should do some research...1st off everything you are asking is in the growgaqs or already answered in the forums...most times right on the page your on!!!

first0- yes all males are dead so a chnce of it being a male the plant that is streching 0% in my eye... i dont kno this is my first time...

second- when i first got the grow light and the big pots... i hooked it all up and i had the light on 24 hours a day for a week... so i could get it to grow bigger... now i have it on 18/6 so they can get taller....

lastly- is there a store i can get it from dont have a credit card.... do i have to get paint is there an alternative and... i will probally keep lights at 18/6 for about another month or more so they get bigger and then ill switch to 12/12 i wanna get them nice and big huge

1.there is always a chance of a plant to hermie, if it gets stressed or shocked
2...you veg only long enough to get them to about 1/2 the height you want them to be when mature, trust me I did what you did on first grow and ended up with 8 foot sativa, you don't want that! You want to try and keep all your plants uniform in height...if they are 2' tall now, when you flower they will grow to 4-5 feet tall...most people flower when their plant is 1.5 feet tall on the average...you see, they stretch at night or in the dark...
