WILL THE LIGHTS I GOT WORK???

I have two big long flourscent lights that are about 4.5 feet long, a piece, then i have one little flourscent light that i would use to sit next to the pot to give the lower branches light...will these work? my grow space is big enough...trust me! i can make it bigger and smaller if i want. IF THESE LIGHTS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE, WHAT LIGHTS SHOULD I GET???? WHAT ARE CFLS??? AND I READ IN A COUPLE DIFFERENT POSTS THAT PEOPLE USED DIFFERENT LIGHTS FOR THE DIFFERENTS STAGES...COULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME? THANKS!

the lights that you have should work depending on how many plants you plan on growing and where the lights are at. from what i've read on some of these posts they should be about 2 inches from the top of the plant. honestly i don't know a lot about lighting. all i know is that most of your questions are answered in other threads. just take the time to look through them and you'll find your answers a lot quicker than waiting for replies.
