    Pregnant and Smoking. Anyone Else?

That is an excellent point, papaw. A point I really should have remembered considering one of my best friends actually had her baby at home with a midwife once she found out they test newborns blood for any drugs and things when born at the hosp. (a beautiful and extremely smart child, too, if anyone is curious, lol.)

i question taking any mood altering drug (prescription or not) while pregnant. imo i don't think the baby is fine while smoking decreases oxygen levels in mom and baby. just take a break and look at it as a maternity leave

Well, I didn't mean to start the debate of the century. For your information Hydrizzle, this is a PLANNED pregnancy, I want to have my children early because I don't want to be a sixty year old geezer trying to raise teens...

Also, thank you to everyone who suggested the vaporizers. I've smoked out of them before, and they are awesome! I have sent my husband to the headshop to find me one.

Ousted, it's funny that you think you know what is going on during my pregnancy, you are right, when I started this thread, I planned to smoke recreationally. (By cutting down, I mean once, maybe twice a week.) This was BEFORE morning sickness, which let me tell you, is the most unpleasant thing I have ever experienced! Puking from 3am to 9pm is really not a fun thing. I also couldn't keep any food or water down for even 30 minutes! Several of my friends, yes, my mom included, said that one or two puffs is all it takes to make it go away, and of course is an appetite booster. So THEN, I did some research and found my "hippie midwife" comments. Maybe you should do some research...That is by far not the only person in the world who thinks it is a good idea.

Yes, it does work, I can eat now and if I start to feel like I might throw up, one hit is all it takes. I'm not sitting around getting stoned out of my mind day and night! I do care about my baby! But really, honestly, there is NO conclusive research that says it will hurt the baby!

I am taking excellent care of myself AND my unborn child! I'm not here to argue, just to get my two-cents out about this. I wouldn't do anything to cause problems for my child...I simply refuse to bend to the rules of a society more worried about a herb out of the ground than alcohol, which is much worse for people and unborn children, and is LEGAL. There is definitley something fucked up about that!

Personally i think expectant mothers shouldn't smoke weed or cigs. Smoking is a personal choice and your baby doesnt have a choice if you smoke it. its not good for it, sorry.

Trust me, kid, I've done research on everything related cannabis for many many years now, so dont try to act like you're well read because you did a little research after getting morning sickness. I know the arguments. You think anything that hippy midwife said was news to any of us smokers who've been smoking for 10+ years? Hell, even the smokers who are relatively new to smoking are just as interested in the subject of cannabis as you are, so Im sure they know the arguments as well. However you have to look at everything objectively and question everything! You can't just have a self-centered opinion, find an article or 2 that supports what you want to do, and feel as though you are educated on the subject or that you must be right because you discovered other people that agree with you. I could probably go online right now and find numerous articles and sites that support child pornography, molestation, incestuous relationships, and have every reason in the book why its okay to indulge in that kind of lifestyle/behavior. People do believe what they want to believe, so you have to look at everything you read everywhere objectively, and not take what you want to hear as FACT.

And like I said previously I personally dont believe any real harm can come from smoking pot while pregnant, but it's real dumb to boast "it is" harmless with absolutely no real basis or real education, and then puff away seemingly unwilling to view the situation any differently than you are. You have a baby growing inside of you, so being bratty at this time in your life is quite unbecoming to others.

If you dont speak in absolutes then you probably won't encounter replies such as the one's you have either here or in RL. Just sayin'.

    Anyway, good luck with it.

My 2 cents: Try getting wristbands for motion sickness, I swear they work. It seems to me that you are conflicted with this or you wouldn't post it to begin with. Although your baby might appear fine at birth, symptoms such as learning disabilities, autism, coordination problems may not appear until much later. Please reconsider.

You're 19 years old and I remember at that age I was pretty selfish too. I've been pregnant twice and both times I was so tempted to smoke but I quit for the duration of my pregnancy plus the breastfeeding stage. Do you honestly think it's okay and right to be getting high while your beautiful baby is growing inside of you? You should seriously consider otherwise. 9 months to go without bud is not that long.

i dont KNOW one way or the other but it would seem that if you were completely not worried about harming your baby that u wouldnt have posted the thread.
Seeing as its only 9 months, and i quit for 5 just for an important job interview, i would have gone 'safe than sorry....
just my opinion, ignore if u want.
Typing is hard when ur stoned...

The majority of mature women (and I stress mature) - whatever their vices, be it cigarettes, alchohol, whatever at least try and most succeed in giving up their habit for the duration of the pregnancy and longer if they are breast feeding. I'm not sure if you planned this baby, but whether or not you did or didn't, it's your responsibility to ensure the best health possible - forget the pro-weed information - I think you are just looking for an excuse to continue smoking. We can all find propaganda to support our habits if we look hard enough.
I think that if you can't give it up for 9 months - you may have more serious issues - it's called "addiction".
