    An early memorial day thought

My gratitude, how can I express
    For depths of sacrifice
    I cannot comprehend
Men whose names I do not know
    Slain in battlefields
    Of war torn lands
    Leaving the shores of home
    Never to return
    Never to be welcomed
Into the arms of their loved ones
This is the excruciating price for my freedom

My deepest, deepest thanks to those here and not that have served our country. I don't have enough words to express how deep the gratitude extends.

as ozzy once sang with black sabboth

    War pigs

    Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
    Evil minds that plot destruction,
    sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
    Death and hatred to mankind,
    poisoning their brainwashed minds.
    Oh lord, yeah!

    Politicians hide themselves away.
    They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,
    making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

yeah, glad u brougth that song up, i actually just put in a mix i made like... 2 yrs ago (freshman yr at U-M) with that on there, hadnt heard it in a while.. .such a great song right now, and at all times, but esp. these days... those are like the words of God to me, I don't know if anyone's ever summed up how ridiculous war is better than Ozzy did in that song.

Well, I have to agree that war is stupid, but I also agree with Lele, that troops deserve our support. We have felt the blow of invasion with 9-11, and none of us knows how much more has ever been prevented due to our "troops". War is ugly. But I would think the people within our armed forces agree with that. So I support and thank the people, not the conflict.

I agree. The troops are just doing their jobs and need our support. They are all braver than me! President Bush is the bad guy.

most of those kids over there (and i say kids because most of them are just outta high school or some like my friends brother got sent to boot camp the day before graduation) just wanted to better their future and get the money and help they needed to go to college. still praying for there safe return as i hope all of you are. they're are just kids most of them but when they return they will probably be much more grown up than you or me. i wish with all my heart they weren't there but thye are and they need us, so show your support
