waisting light?
Well it goes like this,i have grown out doors for a number of years now .I am on my 4th indoor grow and dont have alot of room these days about 4.5 foot x less than 2 foot wide by about 8 foot tall have ducting in and out.
I am runing 1 x 400 watt son-t (think it is called) & 1000watt MS 1000 supergrow for flowering.I have the 400 watt on for 12/12 & the 1000 watt on for 7 hrs of there day these hang side by side.
Things get a bit warm but stay ok.Into the third week of flower and already the buds look like they are going to be very tight and compact.I have 4 plants soon to be 6.
please give me your comments.Do u think i am wasteing to much light ?Has anyone else tryed this?

Ok I find your choice of light cycle interesting? Why are you running your lights on that odd cycle? Is it for heat control?
Are you using Mylar or white walls for reflection?
There is no such thing (so to speak) as to much light. It's the heat that causes problem more the lumens. I assume you are using cool tubes or air-cooled hoods?
Are you hanging the lights on each side of the plants?
What temperatures are you talking about?
No I don't think you are wasting your time but I do have more questions.

waisting light?
Thanks zandor, the reason for the light cycle is the heat but also thought i might be wasteing light and power.
I have white walls for reflection , have no heat problems plants look good ,no cool tubes i do have the inlet fan ducted towards the 1000 watt hood.
The lights are side by side so the plants expand past each side of both lights ,i am bending this time under wire,so some plants will get more of one light than the other.
the temp is peaking at around 38C max and 18C min sorry dont no F and around 85% humidity max and 50% min.
Well the buds are looking good after not even 3 weeks of flower. So it is good to no i am not wasteing light.Am very interested in your comments. The reason i ask mainly is that i no u can run just the one 400watt in the same area but will i get better results useing the extra light...thanks man
Ps sory about whinging in the other thread yesterday i had had a shit day (no excuse)I am not usualy like that.Much respect.

Also for your info, the plants are staying alot more compact this grow, but i dont have anything to compare it to because all of my other grows i have done under shorter day cycles eg.9 or 10 hr days.

The difference is light penetration. The 400w light is only good for up to 14" after that the lumens diminish fast.
Your 1000w light can penetrate up to 18" well and 24" is not bad but a little far. If you can install glass as a heat shield in your 1000w light that will help allot with heat issues. An air-cooled hood where you bring in air from outside the grow room. Push it though the hood and back out the other side of the room will cool your bulbs.
If you have room (not sure if you do) stager the lights on each side of the plant one closer then the other and hang them as top/side light.
