How to get seeds to pop?

I've had some pop in a day but others have been sitting there for over a week in the ol' wet towel. Any tricks in getting these suckers to show their 'stubs' quicker? Other than patience? I've had them in a warm (not hot) spot. Kept them pretty moist sometimes wet. Good water. Nothing else. Thanks!

some seeds are good some aren't. I read in an online growing guide that if you put them on a hot frying pan and they pop then they are good seeds. i've never tried it though.
