USUALLY one second? No... always one second, actually. Hertz is how many times a given tone's waveform oscillates in one second. A 440Hz tone is the tuning standard (A above middle C, if I'm not mistaken). Music is made up of MANY different tones, changing constantly, and cannot be simply measured in Hz. The 400/404Hz tones would not really qualify as "music", but rather just two separate tones.

I'd like to try this, and I think I will generate a wave with these test tones now... I hope it does more than just annoy me with the beat frequency.
