Making a glass bong?

Well I want to make my own glass bong and I have all the materials but I was wondering, would a small butane torch lighter be hot enough to be able to make a whole through decently thick glass. When I say decently thick, think glass vase. I was planning on heating it with that and using a pen the right size to push through. If all else fails, I'll go to my dads car shop and use a real torch or mig welder. Thanks for the help!

I made a glass bong out of Sobe bottle by using a fine tip chisel and slowly putting a small hole through it and then I wrapped it in sand paper and made the hole bigger, it took me about three weeks of patience to finish it, and after the first bowl I dropped it an broke it. Don't know about the lighter and all that just thought I would give you another idea.

First off you cant make a hole in glass with a torch lighter, it doesnt have enought heat or pressure so the glass will crack before it melts. second, a mig weldor works on an electrical arc so it will have no effect on the glass. A torch will do the job if you have an oxygen tank and argon but i dont suggest using it unless you have expirience with them as they can be dangerous. it has a lot of heat and pressure so it will cut a hole through it in no time. good luck.

you can do it with a propane torch (the ones that usually have a blue canister underneath them) but you better have a shitload of glass bottles to work with, cuz i went through atleast 100 smirnoff ice/corona bottles before finally getting one to not crack upon cooling down.....takes time and learn from your mistakes is all i can say about it..and i can imagine a butane lighter is not hot enough...or atleast woudlnt' cover enough surface of the bottle for it to heat up (keep in mind if you're going to just heat one part of the bottle the cooler glass aroun dit is going to be working against you) careful for cracks...make your hole, don't rush it make sure the bottles are dry completely (slightest moisture will crack it) when ytour hole is done step back and just wait....if it goes about 10 or 15 mins w/o cracking you have success just don't touch it til it's completely cool.

just put a Canadian dime in a beer bottle and start shaking the shit out of it and the dime will eventually popout right through the glass and make a great hole. good luck

Yea, anyways, I would like to know how to make a good hole in glass as well, i tired a nail, and it cracked the glass even tho i had duct taped the shit out of it. If you did the thing with the coin, you wouldn't really be able to make the hole were you want it. I heard you can heat up the glass, and then put a single drop of water on the heated part and it'll make a hole, but i dont know hoe to make it hot enough. do you think i could just hold it over a candle for a while?

They have glass drill bits at places like Lowes or maybe ur Wal-Mart. They look kinda like spades(from a deck of cards). If ur glass is thick enough, it won't break. I used a 750 mL bottle of Goldschlager and drilled right thru the gold coin on the bottle. It took me about 20 minutes of drilling and works beautifully.

BUY A GLASS BOWL AND DOWNSTEM, and use candle-wax to fix leaks.
