    Introducing- The 4of20_BoRG CUBE

I have been surfin' and lurkin' around the various MJ Cultivation sites for a few years now.
I've done a couple Outdoor grows with moderate success, but it just seems too risky. Im always anxious and paranoid during the whole grow that it will get discovered.
Even though I have been a long time Home Gardener/Vermi Farmer and have done alot of yard/gardening work for my neighbors (they see me working around my yard and plants all the time), it just takes one curious person to sneak-a-peek at what "secrects" I have growing in my backyard and its all over!
So around April, I decided to start studying and learning all I could about Indoor MJ growing.
Thank the Heavens for the many ingenious people who have found ways to not only grow MJ indoors, but do it in a fairly small enclosed enviroment.
And to make it stealth to boot! +++K to all of you!
I decided that this would be the perfect way for me to grow my own supply.

I started the actual building this project on May 1st 2005, so it has taken about 3 months fo build. (work/cash flow/life/etc)
Also, in order to keep this project as "stealth" as possible, I bought the materials little by little. Some from online stores and some through local home improvement centers and hydro/gardening stores.

With the money I spent on this, I probably could have bought much of it ready made (Hydro lighting systems, CanFan Filter, etc), but I wanted to keep it as cheap as I could, and still make a fairly high quality grow cabinet system.
Plus I really like to Mod shitI
I love taking stuff and turning it into something else or making something even better.
(I have modified the Intake/Exaust system of my S10 (and still doing more), I have built 3 Modded Gameing rigs (PC), and am working on many other insane projects. Soon I will start building a 24" gaff rigged sailboat)
Suffice to say, I like to mess with shit!

I dont have any actual "plans" drawn out as it was built bit by bit. Mostly making it up as I went.
Changes to my original plans and ideas came day by day.
What I might think would work for what I wanted, actually turned out to be not such a good idea after all.
I had intended to originally go with a small set-up (ala NGB), but I knew eventually I would want something bigger.
So by combining things from NGB's cabinet with Intensity's Monolith and set-ups and plans from the many C13/C22 builders on the many forums,
I came up with the bastardization you see here!

Its definately Borg! Technology supporting Organic Life!

The Cabinet has 3 main sections.

The First is sectioned off in half into 2 chambers.

The top chamber measures approx 12"W x 24"D x 23"H (less 6" for Cooltube intake duct and CFL fixture)
It has 4- 4" round mini darkroom louvers on a passive intake/exaust
It is lit by 4-20w/6500k Daylight CFL's
This chamber is to be used pimarily for seed germination and clone propagation, though it can be used as a secondary veg area.
The lower chamber measures approx 12"W x 24"D x 23"H (less 4" for CFL fixture)
    It has 2- 8" x 8" square darkroom louvers on a passive intake/exaust
It is lit with 1- 150w/6500k Full Spectrum Grow Lamp
This chamber is for primary Vegging.
These 2 chambers are accessed by a single door in the front.
    Both Approx 2sq.ft/4cu.ft each

The Second section is the main Flowering chamber
It measures approx 24"W x 24"D x 47"H (less 7" for Carbon Scrubber and Cooltube)
It utilizes the 2 4" round mini and the 8x8" darkroom louvers from the Veg chambers as a passive intake.
The active exaust is powered by a 6" 211 CFM PAPST FAN, pulling through a 6"round x 18"L Carbon scrubber
The 250w HPS Cooltube runs independant on its own 6" 211 CFM PAPST FAN.
This is also accessed from the front by a large single door
    Approx 4sq.ft/16cu.ft

The Third Section is seperated into 3 chambers

The top houses the 2 main exaust fans and ducting. (Cooltube and Carbon scrubber)
The next section down houses the remote HPS Ballast.
(Both these have to be unscrewed to access)
The bottom section is spilt in half.
The top shelf houses the majority of the electrical connections as well as some Misc equipment
The lower part is primarily for a Reservoir and Tea brewing..
This section is accessed from the side with 2 doors (soon to be installed )

All wiring/tubing/etc runs through a hollow 1/2 space behind the cabinet.
It is all hidden with a thin paneled skin that is easily removed.

**A couple of things of note-

*The Carbon Scrubber is smaller than SiS's as a 8" round x 2ft length w/ a 6" duct was too big for this setup
(mine is smaller and still cost 70 bucks WTF!!! j/k I have stuff left over)
*The HPS Ballast is housed in a gutted and modified old 250w computer power supply
*The HPS Cooltube uses the baking rack that it came with for support and to attach the Reflector
The reflector was made with 6" aluminum ducting , shaped (poorly) into a Batwing and painted white.
*The Seedling/Clone CFL fixtures were made with dual socket bathroom fixtures and a workshop flouro light reflector cut in half
The reflectors were then attached together with aluminum tape to make a single quad socket fixture.
*The Veg CFL fixture is a mogul socket attached to a 3/8 piece of plywood in a U shape.
It is cooled by 2- 80mm computer fans set on each side of the mogul socket
The reflector is the other half of the 6" ducting attached with L brackets to the plywood back.

I still havent recieved the Fan grills to cover the exaust holes (had to order from Canada to get the different sizes in all the same style)

The cabinet, as it is now, is not 100% light tight. (Stealth wise)
There is light showing through the Cooltube intake as well as the exaust. I guess it reflects more than I thought through the dryer duct (aluminum)
It also has some minor light coming through small cracks around the doors. I have tried different weather stripping but havent found one that blocks all the light coming out.
The 4' round mini "darkroom" louvers suck! They let light through. I will be removing these and putting 2 more 8x8 Doran Darkroom louvers in their place

    Well, there you have it.
My first attempt at a Grow Cabinet.
I have just started my first grow in it to work out the kinks and already I have found things that need to be changed.
This is an ongoing project and I will try to keep this post updated with any changes.

All Comments are equally welcome. Good or bad

Thanks for any help you can pass along

    PEACE

    Thanks for the positive feedback.
No yield yet, just started the grow.
Plants are at about 11 days.
Having some heat issues in the top seedling/veg chamber. Temps are around 92-97F with 4-20w 6500k CFL's.
The problem is arising (I believe) because of my placement of the 2-4" round mini-louvers that are the exaust into the flower chamber.
They are set too low and heat builds up in the top. Even though I have a fan circulating the air.
I am thinking of removing these 2 and giving this chamber is own seperate active exaust.

This is a first run Test Grow just to see how the cabinet performs.
Taking notes and making changes where needed.
