Maybe I'm too wasted, but is this too difficult?

Man, this growing your own shit is serious! How can you all concentrate long enough to follow this complex process. Granted, I'm sure it's heaven at the end, but DAMN man, I'd have to get a labotomy after I went through half of what you do!

I've been having a tremendously hard time getting the courage to just jump in the car and hit up as many strangers as I can in my small town to see who will sell me some weed, so I've considered just taking the plunge into growing, but shit! It's as if I entered the graduate level of horticulture studies. This looks a hell of a lot more complicated than I expected (put a couple of seeds in a pot, keep it watered, and put it out on the porch (that's more my speed))!

I have a whole new found respect for those that grow their own. Man, you all (or ya'll down here) have some serious concentration when growing. Keep up the great work. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can't blind-side some old bastard into selling me some stinky ditch weed.

    Cheers,

    Amen to that bro.

I don't even adjust my ph. I just water, feed, grow, harvest, smoke. It's not really that hard to get the bsica down. It's like learning anything new pretty much, it takes time, but once you know what you're doing, it'sa a snap. It almost becomes a 6th sense. good luck.

Have you ever grown a small vegetable garden outside? Doing a BASIC indoor pot grow is 1/10 the hassle. No bugs, no weeding, and you control everything. And it beats the hell out of eating broccoli.
This is all just a goofy satire...sort of a National Lampoon thing and certainly only photos and ideas collected online.

O.k., my husband and I found the ideal spot to setup everything. We've got an idea of all the different components to get, but man there's a ton of seeds/varieties to choose from. Do you have to worry about the seeds being shipped to you? What makes the right seed/variety?

    You've all been very encouraging.

FOr your first grow, dont try anyof the exotic seeds. Odds are you are gona kill your first grow or do something to damage it.

Get a session under your belt first. Just grab some seeds from your bag.

When ordering, of course you need to worry...but there are many reputable places that will deliver and you'll be cool.

For the most part it personal choice as to what strain to grow. Either indoor or outdoors Northern Lights #5 is very forgiving and one of the easer strains to grow. The smoke is great everyone enjoys the buzz.

Just start with soil but don't use Miracle Grow just use a sterile soil mixture. Add Perlite to the soil at about a 50/50 mix. Grow in 2-5 gallon buckets or 2-3 gallon buckets, the top one drill about 30-50 1/4" holes in the bottom all over don't forget the sides. The bottom bucket will catch the runoff, you just dump that bucket once a week give it to your garden plants outside.

Use a fan to move the air around the plants. For indoors pick up a 400w HPS light with a Hortilux bulb. Watch the temperature and keep it under 84f at all times. With good drainage you will water about 3 times a week, more when the plant gets larger.

Not sure of the area you want to grow indoors so can't help until those details are posted.

Check this shit out! A quick search about seed issues revealed the following from AnnaC:

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Police say an intercepted order of marijuana seeds prompted arrests.

    http://www.theindychannel.com/news/4433256/detail.html

I'm in the land of head and humidity (South Carolina). I live in a very private area with plenty of room outside and sun light to grow, but considering it's late July, I'm going to have to get this things inside sometime, so might as well have my hubby start building the box of the century now. But I've got two problems; I don't have a local source (for that is the reason of why I'm growing my own) and I don't feel all that great about ordering shit over the internet and having my picture blasted over the news (I'm in the PTA for God's sake! (well not really, but at least my point is made)).

Now to those that said it's as easy as planting veggies/plants. I've never done that either! But what really concerns me is that there is a PhD level of understanding that is obviously required when I read things like "cutting colas" and cloning, or determining sex, etc. Gone is the notion that all I had to do is put a seed into nutrient-rich soil, keep the stuff watered, provide plenty of light and BOOM, after a few months I have something to relieve all the pain and frustration. AHHHHH! (Man, I've got to mellow out)

I'm sure it's easy for those in the know. It's just a bit overwhelming right now. Of course it doesn't help that we've been without for ALONG time.

It'll all be better very soon.

    Cheers all,
    C-

It's a weed, so it will grow...growing seeds from your bag will educate you more than expensive seeds IMHO, because you will most likely produce alot of males and sexing is
to me was one the most intimidating aspects of growing, but with the help of our friends here @ c.com, It really was quite easy...It is good advice to start with cheap bagseed, not everybody kills there first grow, but if you read posts here for awhile then you will see that it happens....remember: Tend to your garden; it is a rewarding experience. 2.don't overwater 3.don't over fertilize, contrary to new growers brlief's
this does not make it grow faster, it will in fact kill it...Also, I found when I first came here I would take more stock in the moderator's opinion, than everyone else'.
You will learn the right people to listen too, and then everything will fall into place.
In closing I would like to say that; My first "real" grow was done mirroring the hydro-vs-soil article at overgrow.com on the homepage, it is interesting and I had 11 females out of 18 and they are all healthy, almost harvest time...with almost no problems...these methods are basic and easy to follow, although some experienced growers will not agree necessarily to the soil mix...I loved it, but want to learn more about adding nutes throughout the grow at optimum times ala Zandor, by the way there are alot of advisers here, but if you read and follow what Zandor or Harddon advise you will be able to adapt to your own way of growing...and remember it's a weed!
