My babies: Day 5 (lol)
The size of your plants will be determined by a number of environmental factors, but also the strain factor.
YOu would be far better off training her by bending and tying or some true LST to control the height. If she gets root bound in a small pot, trouble will result.
You can help prevent root bound issues by adding small red lava rock to the bottom 3" of your new home for them. The roots will grow over and into the rock at a much slower pace than soil alone. Make sure any lava rock you use is red...not black...as the black kind is missing some phosphorous and other minerals.
Between the rocks and the stem training or tying, you can keep her as short as you wish.
***Get a fan on those babies now. Sitting there wigglin the stem with your fingers is no where near the stem strength you get from a fan FULL TIME.
With CFLs you need to get the light as close to the plant surface as possible. However, this brings the dreaded danger of heat and light burn.
A fan blowing the space between the plant tops and the light is CRITICAL to getting good short growth and strong stems. It should be full time and the plants should be blowing in the wind back and forth all day and night...strengthening them stem and also keeping the hot air from the lights from either stunting growth, or burning your growth.
The advantages of CFL is the close proximity to the leaf surface you can get the light. But this is only acheived by keeping the plants cool....do it with the fans.
Attached is a pic from earlier this year...
Here I have a fan blowing right between the lights and the plants....you want something like this.....full time fan and full time blow.
Do not add nutes until after the third week...they are just not needed until then in a good soil grow.
Ads for new container size....I would transplant into a 2 - 3 quart container thru veg after two more weeks.HARDDON Reviewed by HARDDON on . My babies: Day 5 (lol) Here they are so far. Guys who have grown, like HARDON and Zandor... anyone- basicly tell me what kind of shape they are in... how they look... if they'll survives... and what not. You know what to do. Just remember there were some fert burns or light burns... not sure which. Only two of the plants were affected. Other wise they're cute :-) I had them outside in the sun for the first time today while I upgraded my grow box. They loved it! Here they are: (Each picture is of a different Rating: 5
