    My babies: Day 5 (lol)

Here they are so far. Guys who have grown, like HARDON and Zandor... anyone- basicly tell me what kind of shape they are in... how they look... if they'll survives... and what not. You know what to do. Just remember there were some fert burns or light burns... not sure which. Only two of the plants were affected. Other wise they're cute :-) I had them outside in the sun for the first time today while I upgraded my grow box. They loved it! Here they are:

Looking Good Cam! So far so good, They will survive just don't baby them to much. Don't overwater and DO NOT give em any nutes just yet... Full sun will fry your babies. Congrats on your new grow and I hope they are all females

Yes, Cam, looking good bro. Keep it up, and like Stinky said, don't overwater and don't you dare think about giving them ferts yet, or I'll slap you

The hot sun will fry your plants. Just keep them under one light spec right now, Either sun or lighting, don't change back and forth. One or the other, it's not good for the plant. Is that 5days from seed? If so, nice job! I'm on day3 of my newly germinated plants and they aren't even in soil yet!

Keep up the good work, treat them well and great rewards will come of it. Keep us updated, good luck!

Dont wait too long to get them out of the white cups. Sometimes they can let in enuff light to affect the roots and soil grow with lights on roots doesnt pan out so well.

Also, you have already caused them stress with the nute issues.

No telling how they will react...long term....

    So far they look great...considering....

MJ is a weed...let it grow....

So far so good. Nice size for 5 days....

Get the fan on them also...those stems will need some strengthening. As posted about, careful with direct sunlight at this stage.

Either indoor or outdoor. Try not to mix them up.

    keep udating

Hey thanks everyone for looking and giving some nice feedback! Yes this is day five from seedling to what I have now. The only reason I had them outside was because they were supposed to be in light at the time- but it was my perfect chance to fix the lights inside my box so that more light was shining down on the little ones. I do not plan on any nutes until they are well around 2-3 weeks old, and I know to start with low numbers 4-3-3 or something and work my numbers higher. I plan to keep them under fluro lights during both veg and flower- I'm going to add more lights for flowering though. I have a fan pouring fresh air into the bin that runs on a timer along with my lights. I also have an active carbon filter (not activated until they start smelling). I also heard that wiggling the stems (on overgrown.com) will help to create them stronger and what not, I wiggles them today- should I continue? As for the burnt leaves, no biggie, she is still carrying on like a trooper. I am very surprised about how big they are for the 5th day. Then again, I guess I have no clue what strain I am actually raising. Maybe some of you will know once I have full grown pictures. As for the cups HARDON, what size pots would you suggest? Remember I don't want them to big, so they won't need huge pots.... right?

The size of your plants will be determined by a number of environmental factors, but also the strain factor.

YOu would be far better off training her by bending and tying or some true LST to control the height. If she gets root bound in a small pot, trouble will result.

You can help prevent root bound issues by adding small red lava rock to the bottom 3" of your new home for them. The roots will grow over and into the rock at a much slower pace than soil alone. Make sure any lava rock you use is red...not black...as the black kind is missing some phosphorous and other minerals.

Between the rocks and the stem training or tying, you can keep her as short as you wish.

***Get a fan on those babies now. Sitting there wigglin the stem with your fingers is no where near the stem strength you get from a fan FULL TIME.

With CFLs you need to get the light as close to the plant surface as possible. However, this brings the dreaded danger of heat and light burn.

A fan blowing the space between the plant tops and the light is CRITICAL to getting good short growth and strong stems. It should be full time and the plants should be blowing in the wind back and forth all day and night...strengthening them stem and also keeping the hot air from the lights from either stunting growth, or burning your growth.

The advantages of CFL is the close proximity to the leaf surface you can get the light. But this is only acheived by keeping the plants cool....do it with the fans.

Attached is a pic from earlier this year...

Here I have a fan blowing right between the lights and the plants....you want something like this.....full time fan and full time blow.

Do not add nutes until after the third week...they are just not needed until then in a good soil grow.

Ads for new container size....I would transplant into a 2 - 3 quart container thru veg after two more weeks.

Cam once they start to go root bound you can transplant into a bigger pot(s) say like 3-5 gallon pot. As for nutes Fox Farm carries solid nutes, Let the fan hit your young plants that alone will bulk em up..

How many watts are we talking about flo wise?? I would go with an MH for Veg and an HPS for flower or HPS all the way.. Flos are great for young babies! let me know what lighting you are using?

They look great keep up the good work

What soil mix are you using?

The highest I could find... the ones HARDON used in that picture up there ^^^ not the huge long one.... but the other ones around it. I have those. And thanks HARDON, I havce a fan blowing on them. I need to get them closer to the light... I think the burns they have are actually from the light. i had them too close one night and that is what happened. So let me get to making my box better again lol... I'm gonna raise them closer to the light. i wouldn't want them streching for light... want them to be bushy not lankey. Thanks! I'll get new pots asap

Those are good 55W True CFL's with a 5500K temp. Very nice for growing....short, bushy, stubby plants. $26.00 a piece.

They also work great in the winter time for Seasonal Affective Disorder and Bi-Polar Disorder.

You guys think I'm a fruit now?

Wait till the middle of winter when I go stir crazy......

The only thing I would have done different from the pic I posted is to mount the bulbs horizontally, like the long ones.

But I too stupid to figure out a way to do that without casting shadows from the base sockets, while keeping them adjustable.

Anyhow, they work, those are the kind you need for great vegg.

Just keep that air between the lights and the plant tops moving OUT and keep those seedlings blowing in the wind.

I would wrap those cups you have them in right now in foil, dull side out...or...drop the cups into a slightly wider cup so as to sheild the roots from light.

Those are very bright lights indeed.

    Keep that air moving 24/7....

One more thing for what its worth.... I vegged cunt and whore for 24/0 under those lights but when I switched to 18/6, I saw much better growth and overall health.
