    Rolling Rock supporting NORML?

Hey, my buddy told me the other day that he was going to start drinking Rolling Rock more often because he heard from a guy that every 5 cents from a bottle goes toward benefitting NORML.

He also said that Anheuser-Busch products give 10 cents from the bottle to support the DEA.

This sounds like a crock to me- i tried searching online for any leads to the merit of the story and found nothing. Has anyone ever heard of this or could vouch for its truth?

That's because alcohol is a drug and they don't want any competition.

anheiser bush has supported C.A.M.P. [ campaign against marijuana production ] for many years now.... and im pretty sure coors and miller do as well. so if you are going to buy beer.. buy a nice micro brew from a small brewery instead of feeding one of the beasts that are trying to destroy us

Exactly, it has been shown that as marijuana use goes up in a segment of the population, alcohol use goes down. They want a monopoly on getting people fucked up, regardless of the fact that their product is far more harmful and even deadly in many cases. They also want to look like they care about the state of America's health, since making millions of dollars a year on deadly products kind of makes people doubt that, you know? And this looks like one way to create that illusion in the public that also "conveniently" helps to maintain their huge profits. There's capitalism for you.

By the way, I think if Rolling Rock were really dedicating that much of their profits to NORML, they'd at least advertise it somewhere.

I doubt that. I love getting a strong buzz from Alcohol just as much as getting really stoned. Depends on my mood is all

Right, but if you were to abide drug laws like most people, your mood wouldn't matter. You'd have to pick beer every time. By keeping the competition in the underground, they assure that if you go to a bar, you will only be able to buy beer there. If you go to a baseball game, there will be a beer man but no joint man. The law abiding citizen has only one choice when it comes to getting wasted, which might otherwise be split into two industries.

However, it could be argued that if weed were legalized, the artificially inflated prices of an illegal product would disappear, and people who use both would have more money to invest in beer.
