What to do
I start school in August and I am a pretty heavy smoker. I know that smoking causes short term memory loss and I was wondering if I should quit smoking completely so that I can make the grade. I have to keep a 2.5 gpa to keep my scholarships. Any advice?

I think you know the answer already.
Do you honestly believe you should put a drug before your future?

just cut back on the amount you smoke ..if you have a memory issue when smoking just dont smoke before school ..and wait till you have done all your homework before burning one in the eve .. we told our son he can smoke once he is 16 . but only if he has a 3.5 GPA or higher ..you could set a goal to get your self to a lil higher GPA[ your at 2.5 try to get up to 3.0] and if you dont make the goal then maybe try laying off the weed till you can get your grade up ... but i wouldnt try the ritalin thing no good can come from taking speed good luck

You have to think about this: As long as pot smoking is not effecting your grades, then why worry, but if it is, maybe you should cut back. Not all pot smokers get short term memory loss, only when we're stoned
. Never go to class stoned, you won't remeber a thing! Just go to class, go somewhere and study, then when you are free and clear of homework, then get high, unwind and have some fun. Don't throw away a good thing just so you can be stoned for a couple of hours, not worth it.

AMEN dude .. most of the honor roll kids i knew growing up were complete stoners ..i think that whole memory thing is way over blown .. and if used in moderation weed can actualy help some people with thier studying .. i know if im relaxed and focused i will retain much more of what i read than when im restless and worrying about somthing

Exactly. When I was in college last year I was stoned everyday, but never before class. I couldn't concentrate, and doing hardcore algebra wasn't easy on my mellowed mind when I'm baked. So I saved that stuff for after class, after studying. I still managed a 3.7 grade average and I ripped that math shit to peices! I never have to do it again, trust me, doing it just once was good enough for me.

They all manage fine and are family people with high paying jobs.
Okay I'm done.
