you top the plant, cutting the main cola, two more grow in its' place, you top those two and now you have four main colas.....
this technique enables the plant, along with some LST, to grow horizontally.....
the growth never stops....
the plant heals itself and continues to grow(the vegetation time is much longer though).....
using these techniques it grows more horizontally than vertical becoming a bush style plant....
attention though, not all strains respond the same way to topping, most of the strains have no problem with it, while others like Chronic (that grow buds mainly at the main cola) do not respond well when topped......
propably the best technique to apply is the low stress training(LST) where you do not have to make any cuttings and stress the plant halting its' growth.....
you just bend the branches and tie them down...the overall yield is increased because the light reaches the lower parts of the plant and new growth shoots appear.....and all these happen with no stress at all
