topping seedlings

a friend just told me that if you top a seedling when its about 6cm tall, or when those little roundish first leaves are still on the plant, that you will get two main stems. Does anyone do this, heard of this? please let me know what you think

Check the cultivation FAQ section. Read up on croping vs bending that will answer your question. Don't do anything until you read up some more.

Do not top you plants until after the 4th node....

NEVER top as a seedling.

Yes you will grow two main kola stems intead of one.
However, they will not be of the same quality...in MY OPINION ONLY!

You can also top your secondary growth shoots and double those stems...

But be sure to understand it slows growth for a bit, shocks the plant and in some opinions, the more you do it the less the quality.

Some opinions only, none that i know of to be fact.

I dont like to top.

I top but it depends, some I top after the 4th node and some I top a week into flowering depending on space, time, and maintanance...I havent tried bending yet I plan to but first I'm gonna read the best FAQ's that I can find...

A plant grown with zero shock is a happy plant I do know that so good luck and let us know how they turn out

It's early enough in the cycle there is no affect on the potency at all. There are many other things that affect potency and THC content. Cropping in the early stage is not one of them. It will retard (slow down) the vegetation process by about 10 day's to 2 weeks. Some strains even take longer up to 30 days but the extra yield is worth the time. You just need side room. The plant will grow out more then it will grow up.

Seedlings are too young to crop

The plant should be about 10" tall and have about 6-8 sets of nodes. When you crop the plant between the 4th & 5th node or even the 6th and 7th node. You then clone the stock you just cut. Don't rush it. By that time the plant is in vegetation cycle and is strong enough to crop.

Understand now? There is no need to crop the top and trash it.
