germination situation i'm facin..

nice rhyme right? i know... ok.. down to business...

i had like 16 seeds.. tried to germinate them... now they smell like shit... my partner told me they're rotten.. out of the 16.. 1 germinated and 2 are showing signs..

so i moved them from the others, and let the others try n germinate still... watever ones do germinate..

now the 3 i have.. i dont have soil at the moment.. but i bought liquid nutrients, a whole system for it (4 bottles for different growth periods).. i made a solution with water and the nutrients.. put the seeds in a paper towel.. saturated it with water.. then diped it a lil into the solution.. put it in a container and put it in my growbox.. so that this way, the seeds that were germinating can get nutrients for the next step.. ya kno?

is this wrong? ideas and opinions?


---------next day, they look the same no improvement.. over a course of time a few other seeds in the 'rotten' pile HAVE increased in size...

well i got a pot, some potting mix (ph is around 7.0) with extra phosphorus.. its Scotts potting soil..

I put the 3 main seeds in, in hopes that somethin good will happen.. and the seeds that looked bigger (3... 6 total in the pot)

and i got a 50watt fluro about 1ft over the soil..

i added water to the soil along with a lil bit of the liquid nutrients....

ideas? opinions? found a flaw to blast me for?

1..take the first two that pop out (if they do) and move them to their own container the second you see the head...carefully...with a spoon so as to grab the whole thing. Go deep with the spoon to grab the tap root.

2. Dont give nutes til week 3.5 - 4....

3. Lower the lights to a couple of inches above the tops for two days.

4. Lower the light to within one inch with a fan blowing on them to remove the heat and strengthen the stem.

Not sure how many you have in there but more than one seed per pot is one too many.


Next time, before you germinate, squeeze the seed kinda hard between your finger and thumb and if it cracks, trash it.

Most gemination failures are from shitty seeds, not the technique.
