another problem... yellow leaves *pics* HELP!!!
well my plant just recovered from a pH issue and
now ive got another problem.
my plant is about 5 weeks old, about 9-10 inches tall,
is working on putting out its 11th node of new leaves.
i thought it was in generally good health, but i noticed
that the bottom most leaves were turning yellow. i thought
nothing of it as i figured that they just werent taking in
enough light to be valuable to the plant anymore.
but then the next up set of leaves started to yellow too, the
bottom ones had nearly withered and fallen off... again i
didnt think much of it as these leaves were sort of mutant
anyhow and at the bottom of the plant...
but now the 3rd and 4th up leaves are starting to do the same
thing... out of 11 sets of leaves i would say this wouldnt be
normal anymore...
i water every other day with about 16oz of water, they dry out
pretty good in that period of time, so maybe im UNDERwatering
them? it doesnt seem like heat issues, the leaves are not curling
up to conserve moisture...
the plant is generally "brittle" feeling... as in it doesnt feel like a
lush plant, it looks pretty much ok, but the leaves are a little dark
and kind of harder, like they could crack and are "scratchy"
this is my first grow that has gotten this far, so im just learning
whats normal and whats not...
i looked on overgrow and found that it looked like a nitrogen
deficiancy...
please check out the pics and let me know what i could do...
thanks.stewie420 Reviewed by stewie420 on . another problem... yellow leaves *pics* HELP!!! well my plant just recovered from a pH issue and now ive got another problem. my plant is about 5 weeks old, about 9-10 inches tall, is working on putting out its 11th node of new leaves. i thought it was in generally good health, but i noticed that the bottom most leaves were turning yellow. i thought nothing of it as i figured that they just werent taking in enough light to be valuable to the plant anymore. What ferts are you using? During the veg stage, you should be using something high in N(N-P-K). If you are not, that is most likely your problem.
What strength and how much fert are you giving them?
It's hard to tell if it's overfeeding or a N def.
Tell us what the n-p-k ratio of the ferts you're using, how much, how often. Knowing that we might be bale to help diagnose it better. If you are using no ferts, that's your problem.

I use Foxfarm ocean mix as well. Generally speaking I have found 2 weeks worth of food for plants in potted containers. I would use peruvian sebird guano (10-10-2) perhaps with the addition of 1/2 dose of Liquid "N" made from alfalfa etc. Also this soil requires the addition of epson salts(1/2tsp/gal) from time to time and an occasional foliar feed of liquid seaweed. Soil generally speaking will hit toxity level of 6.0 PH in 2months time(3galcontainer). Flush rather than ph up.

Looks to me like normal aging of first leaves to me. The shoots look good and healthy.
Fan leaves will all die....especially the lower ones.
I follow the rules that say nute probs and other chemistry issues start at top.... and work their way down.
Those leaves just look like they are old and giving way to a lot of secondary spaces.

well i didnt see snow owls post before i went shopping
today, so what i got was foxfarm grow big 6-4-4
1 tsp. per gallon...
i gave the fern a heathly flush and watered with the
new food... if things arent looking better in 2-3 days
ill get that 10-10-2 stuff... but would my Nitrozyme be
just as good as the liquid N?
funny you should mention that pH info... i had 2 sets
of plants have pH issues within a month of planting... i
was too naive with the first group and lost them, i was
able to save them this time though... ill keep an eye
out throughout the grow for signs of pH problems.
hopefully it enjoys dinner : )
thanks for the tips!!!
