It has been a really long time since i have participated in a drum circle, and don't really know many people interested in starting one, so i thought this might be a good place to start some discussion about it.

If you don't know, a drum circle is where a bunch of people get together every once in a while somewhere, preferably outdoors around a nice fire, but a backyard or an apartment or whatever with enough space works, and people bring their drums, didjeridoos, or whatever kind of instruments you play(usually rhythm instruments) and you sit/dance/jump around the circle playing/chanting/singing etc and generally having a good time or trying to go into a trance state. Every time I've been to one it was a really good time.

So, does anyone think they might be interested in starting something like this?
Have you ever been to the burning man celebration? It would be a blast to get a group from the metroplex to caravan out west for it.

Drum circles can be different things to different people. Back in the late 70's, my drinking/smoking buddies would all gather once in awhile for a camping trip......and I do mean "trip". We had one silly looking Native American tourist drum that we passed around. After you took a toke, and after several hits of peyote, the person with the drum got to vent, bitch, rant, and rave about his or her life problems. Then the other people would offer suggestions to help. Sometimes they had incredibly good ideas. The problem is that we normally forgot the answers by the next morning's hangover. But it was a lot of fun, and great bonding for good friends. I'm just glad Cartman was too young to kick our asses then...
