The only reason there are expiration dates on medication is to let you know when it loses it potency. Nothing bad will happen to you, you just may have to use more to get the desired effect.

Probably no more dangerous that unexpired benadryl (which is pretty dangerous) I had forgotten all about this, but I took most of a package of benadryl (15-20 pills?) because I had to do a weekend in county, and wanted to sleep through most of it (possible UA for benzos) Anyway, it took them forever to book me in, and I started to get some weird visuals where everything was gray and yellow. Yeah, I slept most of the weekend, and I even woke up. You might not be as lucky.
