I just found out that I'm actually going to Turks and Caicos. Is marijuana legal there?

hahahaha. The only reason it's illegal in Jamaica is because the U.S. government told them that if it were legal in Jamaica then it would give young people the impression that it's okay and then they'd do it. I hate our government.

No, weed is NOT legal in JA. Definitely not as big a deal as it is here, though. If you get caught buying, you get detained for the day and have to pay a fine. This happens quite a bit at the airport (don't EVER buy at an airport!!!!). Depending on where you are going (resort, etc), it will be easy to get anywhere in the Caribbean. Just ask your driver (cab, shuttle, whatever) or a staff member at the place you are staying. It is NOT smart to try and take it with you....customs GOES THROUGH your stuff. Not necessarily everyone, but my husband was pulled for complete searches twice. It's much easier to get it outside of the US, believe me! Enjoy

yeah, the cabbies just take your money as a "tip" and they give you "free" marijuana.
