The New South Wales Government announced back on the 20th May 2003 that they would commence a Trial into the medical use of cannabis where registered patients would be given cannabis by the government.

Nothing has happened since, so a group of patients, doctors, supporters and other activists have an annual 'Patients on the grass' picnic in the park at the rear of the Parliament building. We invite politicians to come and meet with medical users to discuss the issues. Some turn up - maily opposition or independant members.

We are only a small group and are probably not influencing things much, but at least we try to keep the issue alive.

Do the house of lords get dressed up funny for a debate?
Not that different to you guys in the States by my understanding - local, state and federal governments. Your Federal Gov has two houses doesn't it, Congress and Senate?

It is not unusal for the Government to have the numbers in both Houses - as it currently is in both the New South Wales and the Australian federal parliaments
