Alright, my friend and I had a debate this weekend over some blunts and budweisers. He feels that everything in the world happens by the hand of fate. So you can assume that he also thinks that we, as individuals, are controlled by fate or destiny. He then went on and said that he thinks that fate is inevitable, unchangeable. I thought his views were rather pessimistic because I always try to look on the brighter side of everything. I just looked at him like this when he was painting this picture of helplessness and apathy.
I, on the other hand, believe in will power; I think that every individual has the power to change anything in his or her life. However, I will not go on a limb and say changing a certain thing in your life will be easy. I just think that people have control of their lives, and self-help is the only help you'll ever receive. But what do I know? I want to know what you think about destiny/fate vs. free will/determinism.
