when you were resting on my couch's arms instead of mine
and wondering why smoke feels so good to the lungs that should detest it
and its ash and embers excite cells that had laid latent in crevices unknown
untill the moment it rained like it rained in April
like a party in my brain

and balloons ballooning like they do in the arms of grandpas in parks with
little boys in overalls and white sneakers and white socks
and a white tee shirt under his denim overalls that all the grandpas bought
even though it was raining he put up his umbrella and got in his car
and drove to the store because he was thinking of you
but you are not a grandson and he is not a grandpa and you are not his favorite word to tell others about when he meets them at the grocery store
in the bread isle where there could never exist a

Thanks for sharing, AL. I started a thread ages ago in the "Original Music" forum called "Some poems...." and lots of ppl posted in it, if you care to read any. You'll have to dig to find it, though, because there haven't been any new posts in it in a long time....it's just sitting there, waiting for you to post in it!!
