Sure, you can reduce the risks. But, you can never completely eliminate them. For example, weed has been linked to triggering panic attacks in some individuals. While not really life-threatening, these panic attacks can at times be severe enough to represent an increased risk of heart problems for those with blood pressure or other coronary problems. Eating or vapping the stuff won't mitigate this risk any.

But, personally, I don't worry about it. The risks are still very low compared to other substances one could ingest, like cocaine, for instance.
