Snopes...
There's so much wrong with the whole thing - a guy getting his head cut off with a hunting knife (do I even need to pinpoint the discrepencies in the normality of this situation?) and people watching it on video. I dunno if it's just me, but something seems slightly iffy about the whole scenario.
GHoSToKeR Reviewed by GHoSToKeR on . Snopes... ...Beeblebrox mentioned a site earlier called Snopes. Being bored, I checked it out and found it quite interesting. I browsed it for a while, and looked through the photographs section (photographs which have been circulating the internet which people have doubts about their athenticity... Scopes tries to find out the real story behind them). I clicked a link without reading it, which was really fucking stupid, because on the page it took me there was a video, so I hit play (again, without Rating: 5

It's not a new phenomenon, Ghost. Video and the internet may be new, but people clamoring to see gore is as old as history itself. Folks used to flock to high-profile public executions by the hundreds, or even thousands. Gladiatorial combat drew huge crowds on a regular basis. Bloodlust is a part of the human psyche we are never going to fully eliminate. Now, for me, I didn't enjoy watching that video, and in fact, only did so in order to participate in a discussion about it. It didn't freak me out, but nor did I derive any pleasure out of it, at all.
