Should MH bulb show light after power up?

I figured out what the problem is!!
I was sent 2 HPS bulbs. 1 600w and 1 400w

the 400w bulb does work. its not broken.


still need a MH bulb.

if thats not the fix then look in to your starter in that bulb's balest.........it's a big cap..look's like a small pop can.....

I couldn't really tell for sure from your pic's, but are you handling your bulbs with your bare fingers(thought I saw fingerprints), if you are do, it is possible the oil will cause a hotspot and they will blow

nah, no fingerprints.. used a towel.

its actually a MH conversion bulb they say. operates on HPS ballasts.
