Photosynthesis Light?
I bought a HPS light that's (apparently) specific for growing plants indoors. It's a 400W Lucalox PSL T (Photosynthesis light) and on the box it says it is 20% more effective than standard HPS lights. Wot it says on the website is:
A high pressure sodium lamp designed specifically for Horticultural application - PSL: PhotoSynthesis Light
#
Perfect choice for consistent and controlled plant growth
#
230V/400V lamps offer superior PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) output that gives excellent greenhouse light quality
#
Excellent PAR and light output maintenance over the life of the lamp
#
Built with GE's latest Lucaloxâ?˘ XO technology
Wot do peeps think about it? I have fluoros for the 1st few weeks, then wanna switch to ths PSLganjamania Reviewed by ganjamania on . Photosynthesis Light? Photosynthesis Light?
Does any1 out there have any thoughts on my PSL? Has any1 used a light like this b4? Think it's just a bit more effective than a standard HPS. Any thoughts much appreciated

Photosynthesis Light?
Enhanced Spectrum High Pressure Sodium bulbs are color shifted to produce more blue than a standard HPS bulb. This makes them great for "one bulb grows all" lighting. They also have great red spectrum making them a good flowering bulb, and additional blue spectrum making them an effective vegetative growth bulb keeping the stems from elongating. Which can happen with standard HPS bulbs during vegetative growth.
I use Hortilux bulbs my self and have great success with them. I assume they are just catching up to the rest of the industry. They noticed a market and then joined in very late. This may drive down the price in the future due to competition, we can only hope. This is nothing new the technology has been around for a while now.

Photosynthesis Light?
Thanks for the reply Zandor. So basically they're a better all-round bulb that I can use 4 veg & flowering. Is it still advisable to use fluorescents for the 1st few weeks & then use the light I have? Or can this light be used 4 the whole growth of the plant? If not, then when is it recommended to start using this light. I have my plants (seeds at the mo - 1 sprouted yesterday) under fluorescents but thinkin I may get better results just using the PSL. Any comments mucho appreciated

Stick with fluorescents for the seedling stage you donâ??t want to heat the internal temperature of the plant to high at this stage. Once they are out of the seedling stage and move into the Vegetation cycle you can increase the nutrients and the lights.
Just monitor the temperature at the top of the canopy under the light so you don't get the plants to hot.
