Wes Anderson seems to be one of those types who makes movies that people either love or hate. I love The Life Aquatic because it takes real life and distorts it into simpler terms, which makes it awkward, which suggests that real life is difficult and awkward. The shots are all framed and executed very carefully, which lends to the "snapshot in time" feeling, especially important with a plot that covers so much different ground. Plus I'm a sucker for Billl Murray.
