If you look at the pictures I posted above it grows up the stem at the ends of the stems. It all depends on what you want to do as far as pulling them all up. These here I did cut the whole thing down but I have some Skunk x Lowryders that budded but reverted back to a veg state so I cut everything off that was ready and left the two bottom branches to start over and I should have a harvest in a couple of months just not a huge one but nice.

harvesting n bud question
What strain ? Some are better suited for colder and wetter climates. I just went to weather.com and pulled the statistics for my area first frost and freeze of the year. You need at least say a 90 day window for anything half ways decent. Plus there are ways to help your older plants when outside and maybe a freeze is coming. I put a stick a meter or two in length into the ground next to your plant and place a plastic painters drop cloth over it to make alittle greenhouse for it. It well give alittle longer but when it cools down the growth rate slows way down.
See that plastic behind my plants in the picture I just got small long board and nailed it to the fence and attached some plastic to it and draped it over the little table the plants are on.
