Boy, 15, Dies in a Dispute Over an iPod

(July 3) - A 15-year-old Brooklyn boy was killed on Saturday night in what investigators believe was a dispute over an iPod, the police said.

Christopher Rose left his mother's home wearing a borrowed iPod to get on the subway in the Farragut neighborhood with three friends around 5:30 p.m., his family said.

He was approached by a group of teenagers at the corner of Avenue D and 40th Street, near his home, the police said. The youths demanded his iPod, which his family said he had borrowed from a friend, and when he resisted, one of the men stabbed him twice in the chest and attacked his friends. He was taken to Kings County Hospital center and declared dead at 5:50 p.m.

The group fled, taking a knapsack and the iPod, the police said.

No arrests have been made, and the iPod has not been recovered.

Last night, family members gathered at his mother's house.

"My cousin today got murdered over some stupid iPod," said Koreena Glanville, 21, crying.

Mr. Rose was the youngest of four children and the only son, family members said. His nickname was Rosie. He was described as quiet, polite, and good at math.

Since the fourth grade, Mr. Rose would spend the school year in Bushkill, Pa., with his father, Errol Rose, a construction worker who commuted to work in New York. He attended East Stroudsburg North High School.

"We sent him to school in Pennsylvania so he wouldn't get involved in this," said Mr. Rose.

Apple's pricey iPod music players have become a target for robberies around the world. In April, the New York City police reported that an increase in subway crime during the first part of the year was driven almost entirely by thefts of digital devices, especially iPods.

Last year, a young 15 year old boy was stabbed to death over $60! 60 fuckin dollars man!! You know the real sad part though? This boy who killed him, got only 8months in prison because he was a youth.

2 Are Charged With Murder in IPod Theft

Two Brooklyn teenagers were arrested early yesterday on charges that they robbed and killed a 15-year-old boy in the Farragut neighborhood when they stole his friend's iPod, the police said.

i was almost mugged in Portugal 4 years ago over my sunglasses and hat. My cousin and i told the little punks, who were probably 3 years younger than us (we were 14, just out of 8th grade at the time) to fuck off we weren't giving them shit. One of them grabbed his arm and he just shoved him and they kinda walked away

this type of stuff just makes me sick, i'm sure some of yal probably won't understand this (i have no problem with technology, actually i encourage us to go farther with it) but here we are, having to hide and run for the most part because of our weed, yet even the police said that they had a major crime peak when these were introduced into society.....i don't see the police chasing down someone wearing these things when they even admitted the are highly contributing to crime at the moment....just dont' make any damn sense to me....and i'm glad they got arrested, but i know they won't face the justice they deserve since they weren't over 18.....way i see it you did the crime you should have to face the PROPER time regaudless of age except for extreme circumstances
