    Was this a screw up or......

    I took my first stab at budbutter yesterday....came out a nice glowing green......So I decided to make some cookies......They taste like....uh....well not that great. Everyones telling they were made wrong....I say if you use bud in your cooking its going to taste like bud to some extent!!! I made oatmeal chip cookies......they look good...but the taste is kinda ......lets just say the term GOT MILK makes complete sense

    I think I found my mistake.......I watched one show that tells you to squeeze every ounce of butter out of the bud.....Nasty tasting.....then I made the 2nd batch today and did not squeeze out nearly what we did yesterday but we are hoping that what we lost in quantity will be made up for with better tasting butter. Saw a thread that said not to over squeeze or you will end up with WAY TO MUCH NASTY TASTING MJ butter....which is what we got on the first try....They work great.....just gettin them down is HARD!!!!

    for me, taste is not that important, so I just leave all the bud in there, which ensures no loss of the good stuff. It helps if you use a very strongly flavored recipe, which is why brownies are good. The chocolatey goodness covers up the weedy goodness to some extent, but it's still gonna taste weedy.

    Did you just cook the butter and bud together? I only use leaf for butter and cook it slowly for 12 hours or so in a big pot - 6ozs of leaf, 2lb of butter and a couple of pints of water.

    The water really helps, a lot of the herbal flavor is lost to the water while all the goodies remain in the butter. Strain and press well. When cool, refrigerate and the butter solidifies making it easy to seperate from the water (don't be tempted to keep the water ... it is really foul. But the cannabutter tastes beautiful.

    if u soak it in water (weed) for awhile some of the impurties will be removed the water will turn green from the chlorfill and this will not affect the potiencey but will give a less earthy taste don't use realy cold water because this will cause the resin sacks to break free from the bud/leaf but on the other hand if u want to make hash u want the resin sacks to fall off then strain through a coffea filter this is just a brief description it takes time to make the hash and u should ref5rigerate the weed over night and use cold water with ice in put it in a container u can shake the hell out of or use a small hand blender their will be some foaming u have to let it settle for awhile
